::Morrigan stops to rest under a tree to cool her throat and give her scales some air before noticing the box. Despite her recent, repeated instructions of 'don't touch the thing' when it comes to things laying on the ground, she finds herself going over to the box and picking it up with curiosity piqued. She turns it a few times for markings or indications of ownership before going to open it while muttering to herself and the box::

"Well now, where did you come from, I wonder? Least you're not a weapon...I hope."

[The box is practically featureless black lacquered box, roughly large enough to hold a deck of tarot-sized cards]

::Morrigan opens the box and pulls out the contents, finding her way back to the tree to at least examine the deck before pulling the top three cards from the deck out of sheer morbid curiosity.::

::It had been a long journey for River and as the day wore on he found himself growing weary, rounding a bend in the road he sees Morrigan sitting under a tree.  Raising a hand in a friendly wave, River slowly approached his Gorgon counterpart. As he approached he noticed a black box in her hand.::

"Good day Morrigan, How are things?."

::He spoke in a friendly manner.::

::Morrigan looks up from the cards she'd found, raising her free hand in greeting to River::

"Things are quiet, for the moment. Found this box with some cards inside...not sure what it was doing in the middle of the road."

::River's eye narrow a tiny bit as he beholds the box in her hands, the tone with which he spoke next was both quizzical and stern.::

"And you just picked it up, from all I have heard from everyone that is a very dangerous thing to do. Are you able to analyze it at least?"

[Morrigan]

[You draw:]
- The Emperor: You gain Trait Infusion (Menace) 3/ever. Also, you gain rightful ownership of a small keep somewhere in the world. However, the keep is currently in the hands of monstrous creatures, which you must clear out before you can claim it.

- Death: At some point in the future, you will battle an avatar of death-a ghostly humanoid Skeleton clad in a tattered black robe. It will appear unexpectedly and attack you, warning all others that you must win the battle alone. The avatar fights until you die or it drops to 0 Hit Points, whereupon it disappears. If anyone tries to help you, the helper summons its own avatar of death. A creature slain by an avatar of death can't be restored to life.

- The Empress: You gain protection from one situation of your choice. This protection may come in the form of removing you from the environment or even from the plane.

::Morrigan looks over the cards for a brief moment before holding the box out to River::

::Going against his better judgement at this point, River extends a gloved hand and takes the box from Morrigan. He then drew 5 cards.::

[River Draws]:

The Fates:
Reality's fabric unravels and spins anew, allowing you to avoid or erase one event that affected your character personally and directly as if it never happened. You must use the card's magic as soon as you draw it.

Flames:
A powerful devil becomes your enemy. The devil seeks your ruin and plagues your life, savoring your suffering before attempting to slay you. This enmity lasts until either you or the devil dies.

Vizier: At any time you choose within one year of drawing this card, you can ask a question in ten minute meditation and mentally receive a truthful answer to that question. Besides information, the answer helps you solve a puzzling problem or other dilemma. In other words, the knowledge comes with Wisdom on how to apply it.

Rogue: A nonplayer character of the Plot Committee's choice becomes hostile toward you. The identity of your new enemy isn't known until the NPC or someone else reveals it. Nothing less than a wish spell or Divine Intervention can end the NPC's hostility toward you.

Donjon: You disappear and become entombed in a state of suspended animation in an extradimensional Sphere. Everything you were wearing and carrying stays behind in the space you occupied when you disappeared. You remain imprisoned until you are found and removed from the Sphere. You can't be located by any Divination magic, but a wish spell can reveal the location of your prison. You draw no more cards.
